BIDI (short for Bidirectional) SFP optical module is an extremely innovative single-fiber bidirectional optical module. It cleverly utilizes Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology, enabling synchronous data transmission in both directions over a single optical fiber. The transmitting end and the receiving end use different wavelengths respectively, such as 1310nm and 1550nm, which is like opening up two "lanes" of different wavelengths on an optical fiber "expressway", allowing data to pass through efficiently and orderly in both directions.
The design of BIDI SFP optical modules with single-fiber bidirectional functionality greatly simplifies the wiring process. Where two optical fibers used to be laid, only one is needed now, effectively reducing cable clutter. This not only makes the equipment room look cleaner and more attractive but also facilitates daily management and maintenance. Moreover, the simplified wiring structure makes troubleshooting easier, significantly reduces the probability of failures, and improves the reliability of the entire network system.
