Gigac Technology's standard 850nm 12-transmitter, 12-receiver POB (Parallel Optical Board) parallel optical module is a high-density, high-speed optical communication component designed for short-distance, high-capacity data transmission. Its core utilizes 12 pairs of independent VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser) transmitter arrays and corresponding PIN photodiode receiver arrays, operating at the 850nm near-infrared wavelength and compatible with multimode fiber for efficient parallel optical signal transmission. This module utilizes a 12-channel full-duplex architecture, enabling simultaneous bidirectional data transmission and reception, significantly increasing overall bandwidth (e.g., achieving a total rate of 300Gbps at 25Gbps per channel). Its compact integrated package and low power consumption make it ideal for high-speed data communication over very short distances (VSRs), such as millimeter-level interconnects between boards and between cards and backplanes; high-bandwidth direct connections between servers and storage arrays (supporting SAN storage networks or ultra-low-latency data access); airborne radar systems (meeting the requirements for high-speed signal processing and electromagnetic interference mitigation within aircraft cabins); and optical links within industrial automation and medical equipment. The modules are usually equipped with MPO/MTP multi-core fiber interfaces to ensure high reliability and convenient deployment, and are the core solution for short-distance high-speed interconnection.
