Description

This energy-efficient SFF optical module, custom-designed by Gigac Technology for full compatibility with the Broadcom® AFBR-59E4APZ-HT, offers system designers a comprehensive solution for implementing Fast Ethernet over multimode fiber. The module utilizes an industry-standard 2×5 dual-in-line package (DIP) format and features an LC fiber connector interface. The transmitter portion of the module utilizes a 1310nm light-emitting diode (LED). This LED chip is packaged within the transmitter's optical subassembly. It is driven by an integrated circuit that converts differential low-voltage positive emitter-coupled logic (LVPECL) signals into analog LED drive current. The receiver portion of the module utilizes an indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) PIN photodiode coupled to a transimpedance preamplifier integrated circuit (IC). This IC is also packaged within the receiver's optical subassembly. The PIN photodiode and preamplifier circuitry connect to a quantizer IC, which performs final pulse shaping on the data output. The data output uses differential LVPECL signaling. The signal detect output is single-ended. Both the data output and signal detect output are compatible with the LVPECL standard.
